Few men in Canada did more to promote the welfare of farmers than W. C. Good. Born and raised on a farm in Brant County, he was a long-time leader of the agrarian and co-operative movements on the local, provincial and national levels.

Mr. Good played a prominent role in drafting the constitution of the Canadian Council of Agriculture and was one of the founders of the United Farmers’ Organization and the United Farmers’ Co-operative Company. He was a member of the committee which planned the reorganization of United Farmers’ Co-operative Company into United Co-operative of Ontario. Following a term as Member of Parliament for Brant from 1921 – 1925, he returned to his interests in the agrarian and co-operative movements.

W. C. Good was a noted breeder of Holstein-Friesian cattle and in 1948 was awarded a Master Breeder’s Shield by the Holstein-Friesian Association of Canada. A prolific author, he had numerous articles published in the agricultural and co-operative press as well as other newspapers and publications. In 1953, W. C. Good was awarded the Queen’s Coronation Medal.
